January 5, 2010

It's cold and a bit dreary today, which means it's a good day for homemade soup.  And good homemade soup demands homemade bread bowls.  The dough comes out of the freezer before bed the night before, and then is set to rise at breakfast time.  Once baked, it should sit for an hour or so before cutting open and filling with soup.

While working with Deb this afternoon, we noticed tracks in the snow crossing her first floor roof.  The animal that had created these tracks ran down the kitchen and sun room roof and jumped to the carport roof.  It sure looked to me like a reindeer.

Photo will follow as son as I remember how to get it off my cell phone.

It started before Christmas.  While the family was here, it was put back into ts box in sections.  Finally, last night we finished this bizarre jigsaw puzzle.  This morning, before we disassembled it and put it back into its box, I opted to photograph it, proving that we indeed completed it.

Our daughter Deb is ever improving on her 105-year-old house, moving walls, updating doors and windows, and whatever.  She and I have some good times destructing/constructing.  I promised her some time this weekend.  Here's part of the beautiful drive between my home in Janesville and her home in Watertown.

The photo will follow, as soon as I remember how to get it off my cell phone.

I've accepted the challenge of creating a photo journal of my year.  I've never done such an undertaking before, but it might reveal (perhaps only to me) how I fill my days. For Day One, I will admit to only two pursuits: helping Dotti repackage some of our Christmas decorations (including taking down the tree) and watching Bowl games on television.  Watching Bobby Bowden's final game as coach of Florida State was a moving experience, particularly since I learned he's been married to "Miss Ann" for over sixty years.
